Lesotho (the kingdom in the sky) is a high-altitude, landlocked kingdom encircled by South Africa and is crisscrossed by a network of rivers and mountain ranges including the 3,482m-high peak of Thabana Ntlenyana. On the Thaba Bosiu plateau, near Lesotho's capital, Maseru, are ruins dating from the 19th-century reign of King Moshoeshoe. Thaba Bosiu overlooks iconic Mt. Qiloane, an enduring symbol of the nation’s Basotho people.

Lesotho boasts fantastic mountain scenery in forbidding terrain, a proud traditional people, hiking trails, adventures galore and exploration on Basotho ponies. The whole country lies above 1000 metres above sea level which makes it the country with the highest lowest point in the world.
